Laboring for Hoosiers

This week, we celebrated Labor Day. It’s a day dedicated to you -- the hardworking Hoosiers and Americans who go to work and power the industry of our nation, state and communities. And I’m so excited to share that because of your work and because of the leadership of President Donald Trump nationally and Governor Eric Holcomb here at home, our economy is on a roll!

Here’s just a few quick facts you might have missed:
  • More than 6 million jobs have been created nationally and more than 72,500 private sector jobs have been created in Indiana since President Trump and Governor Holcomb took office.
  • The unemployment rate is nearing a generational low – 3.7% nationally and even lower in Indiana at 3.4%. In fact, Indiana’s unemployment rate is below ALL of our neighboring states.
  • Wages are growing, too. Wage growth has now topped 3% for the nation for an entire year.
  • According to a report last week, consumer confidence has climbed to its highest level in nearly 19 years, with hiring and income gains keeping Americans upbeat.
In addition to the work of Hoosiers like you, there’s no doubt that President Trump and Governor Holcomb are laboring for Hoosiers each and every day. Of course, there’s President Trump’s historic tax cuts – putting more money in Hoosier pockets – but it doesn’t stop there.

President Trump announced a big new trade deal with Japan that’s great news for Hoosier farmers and manufacturers, while Governor Holcomb launched a trade mission to Asia this week, all with the goal of bringing home more jobs and investment to Indiana (more details on that below).

Thank you for your work helping make this incredible economic growth a reality! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!

PHOTO: Earlier this summer, Governor Holcomb joined leaders at Allison Transmission to help the company break ground on its new Innovation Center in Indianapolis, which is part of the company's plans to create 300 new Hoosier jobs! And, of course, he couldn't leave without test driving one of their rigs!
Governor Holcomb's Week That Was
Taking Indiana to Asia
(and Bringing Asia to Indiana)!

Another busy week for Governor Holcomb! He kicked off a two-week overseas trade mission to the Republic of Korea and Japan this week, all with the purpose of taking Indiana to Asia, and bringing Asia (and it’s jobs and investment) back home to Indiana.

He started in South Korea. Did you know that Indiana is home to at least 10 South Korea-based business establishments, like POSCO (Clark County), MotionWear (Marion County), Superior Essex (Allen, Johnson and Whitley counties), and Universal Bearings (Marshall County)? These businesses provide 1,500 jobs to Hoosiers. While in South Korea, Governor Holcomb:
  • Met with South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon to discuss how Indiana can support Korean companies in Indiana.
  • Visited the demilitarized zone and met with American troops stationed there.
  • Visited POSCO headquarters, a steel company that is employing Hoosiers in Jeffersonville.
  • Met with members of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul to discuss opportunities to continue to grow the mutually-beneficial partnership between Indiana and South Korea.

Fall Dinner 2019: Celebrating Our Military

This year's Team Holcomb Fall Dinner is one you won't want to miss! We're excited to welcome Congressmen and combat veterans Jim Baird, Brian Mast and Dan Crenshaw as the event's special guests on October 14 at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis.

These three American heroes have made so many sacrifices in the name of freedom. Of course, we already know Indiana's own Congressman Jim Baird, and you may remember Congressman Crenshaw from when he was unnecessarily mocked on Saturday Night Live, but this trio made national headlines when Congressman Mast's tweet "5 eyes. 5 arms. 4 legs. All American." went viral.

Help us celebrate our military by booking your tickets for the Team Holcomb Fall Dinner now!
