** Governor Polis Endorsement
------------------------------------------------------------

When Jared Polis left the U.S. Congress and was sworn in as Governor of Colorado, he promised to bring people together in this divisive political climate. As Governor, he has done that—and then some. Despite the staggering challenges we’ve been facing, today Colorado continues to lead: On paid leave, clean air, and so much more.

This week, Governor Polis announced his Endorsement of Ike. In his endorsement Polis said "We need leaders who will shake up the status quo in Congress and push forward on our nation's toughest challenges." Polis went on to say “Colorado wins when we elect bold, authentic leaders like Ike, who dream, dare, and do." Thank you Governor Polis for joining the fight to unseat Ken Buck.

The Intercept- HOW QANON CONSPIRACY THEORIES SPREAD IN MY COLORADO HOMETOWN ([link removed])
EARLIER THIS SUMMER, I noticed this alarming shift in my Facebook feed. Childhood friends and old high school acquaintances began plastering my timeline with posts referring to a satanic cabal of pedophile elites, including hysterical, unfounded claims about the proliferation of child sex trafficking and cultural or political efforts to “normalize” pedophilia.
During the pandemic, some of the people I grew up with in Colorado had gotten sucked into QAnon, the sprawling and baseless pro-Trump conspiracy theory that is deemed a domestic terror threat by the FBI. I remembered them as perfectly reasonable people: some liberal, some conservative, but all frozen in my memory as intellectually curious. Now, online and from a distance, I was watching them change. Young, white suburban women, in particular, were falling for a Q-adjacent movement, “Save the Children,” which raises false fears about child sex trafficking through fabricated stories, pastel infographics ([link removed]) , and hashtag campaigns.

Denver Post- What’s going on with all the dead birds across Colorado and the Southwest? ([link removed])
As wildfires roared from California to Colorado and a historic cold snap rushed through the Rocky Mountain region earlier this month, a strange thing started happening: Huge numbers of migratory birds began dropping dead.
Normally, birds don’t just die in plain sight. But the winged creatures are being found on bike paths and roads, hiking trails and driveways as if they plopped down from the sky.

Colorado Sun- Colorado draws 2,000-foot statewide oil and gas drilling setback. But it comes with a big “however. ([link removed])
Colorado is poised to impose the biggest statewide oil and gas drilling setback in the nation – 2,000 feet from homes and schools – after state regulators unanimously backed the measure in an informal vote Thursday.
A final, formal vote will be held Nov. 6.
But while setting the buffer for even a single home, many members of the commission made clear that there would be “offramps” allowing oil and gas operators to site their drill pads closer.

Greeley Tribune- COVID-19 quarantines present challenges in educational process for teachers, staff, students ([link removed])
As in-person schooling continues in Greeley-Evans School District 6 during the coronavirus pandemic, one effect is apparent: quarantines are difficult.
“If you’re following the rules of quarantine, your life stops,” said Prairie Heights Middle School physical education teacher Mike McNamara. “The things it impacts outside of the school day, I missed a funeral, a wedding. I slept in a different room for 14 days.”

Trinidad Tribune- Trinidad State sees drop in enrollment amid growing, ongoing COVID concerns ([link removed])
Students and educators are taking a tremendous hit from the disparities caused by the ongoing pandemic everywhere, Trinidad not excluded. A recent report from the National Student Clearinghouse found the sharpest falls in summer enrollment at community colleges, such as Trinidad State Junior College (TSJC).
Locally, TSJC has seen their headcount drop 15 percent and full-time equivalent (FTE) is down 7.5 percent, said TSJC President Dr. Rhonda Epper; something that could not only affect the outcome of student’s lives, but also the entire economy.
