John,

At Tuesday’s first presidential debate, moderator Chris Wallace will ask the candidates about their plans for the next four years. As a mom who misses my beautiful butterfly Dylan every single day, I have a question that I want answered: What will our next president do to prevent gun violence?

But right now, even after hundreds of mass shootings and thousands of precious lives lost to gun violence since the last presidential election, gun violence prevention isn’t one of the “leading issues facing the country” announced as topics for the debate.

I know you're committed to building a safer world for all of our children, so I hope you'll help Sandy Hook Promise urge debate moderator Chris Wallace to ask this question at the presidential debate so every voter can hear where the candidates stand. Will you please sign our petition now?

I've seen the human toll of inaction – it’s precious lives like Dylan’s. With children at risk every moment our elected leaders fail to take action, we need a president who is willing to join the overwhelming number of Americans who support meaningful gun safety reforms and do what it takes to protect our children from gun violence in our schools and communities.

Thank you so much for making sure voters know where our presidential candidates stand on preventing future tragedies.

With love,

Nicole Hockley (Dylan’s mom)
