Tell the Senate:
"Any Supreme Court nominee that Trump puts forward less than 6 weeks before Election Day is illegitimate. You must postpone any vote on a SCOTUS nominee until after the next president is sworn in."

John,
“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.” – Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
After refusing to hold hearings on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, nearly 9 months ahead of the 2016 election, Mitch McConnell is now poised to ram through Donald Trump’s third justice less than 6 weeks from Election Day.
The American people are overwhelmingly opposed to Trump’s illegitimate Supreme Court nominee, which will swing the court to a 6-3 conservative majority―threatening healthcare, our earned benefits, voting rights and much more for generations to come.
Write to your U.S. Senators today and demand that a Supreme Court nomination vote be postponed until after the next president is sworn in.
Since 1992, Republicans have won the popular vote for president just once―yet popular vote losers George W. Bush and Donald Trump will have appointed five justices in that time! This is a recipe for permanent minority rule, one that could have devastating effects on Social Security.
Trump has quite openly discussed this next Justice as one who would adjudicate a disputed election in his favor1―and he has already begun disputing the results.2 A second Trump term would spell disaster for Social Security.3 Trump has already said that cutting Social Security and Medicare would constitute a “fun second term project”,4 and laid the groundwork for permanently terminating Social Security’s dedicated funding.5
We need Democrats to stay strong and delay this nomination as long as possible. If Democrats are successful in both U.S. Senate special elections in Arizona and Georgia, there’s still a chance to block this nomination during the lame duck session.
Join Social Security Works and our allies by writing to your U.S. Senators right now. Democrats and Republicans need to hear from us this week.
A 6-3 right-wing majority on the court does not reflect our country’s values. Thank you for taking immediate action to defend our country and our laws for generations to come.
