Each week, we'll be introducing you to a few of our amazing candidates -- 21 women who are ready to get to work and fight for a more progressive, more inclusive Georgia. This week, the spotlight is on Dar'shun Kendrick, Stacey Evans, and Zulma Lopez.
It's never been more important to elect leaders who will fight for our rights under the law -- leaders who will protect Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's legacy of fighting for women, people of color, immigrants, workers, and LGBTQ Americans. Here in Georgia's Assembly, we need a team of Legal Eagles working to enshrine our rights in law.
STATE REP. DAR'SHUN KENDRICK STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 93
When Dar'shun was growing up in South DeKalb, she watched her parents struggling to grow their small businesses because they couldn't find a small-business attorney who was willing to fight to help them succeed.
So Dar'shun went to law school at the University of Georgia to become exactly that kind of fighter. Now, Dar'shun works with entrepreneurs and small-business owners to help them compete and succeed. She also runs a nonprofit dedicated to educating and power people of color to start and grow their businesses.
Dar'shun knows that opportunity is the key to success, and she's working to level the playing field in the Georgia Assembly.
Stacey knows what it means to fight for everything you've got. She was raised by her mom, a single parent who never finished high school and couldn't always cover the household bills. Stacey witnessed domestic violence. And she was determined to build a better life.
Stacey became the first in her family to graduate from college, earning both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia. Now, she fights for others, ensuring that all of us have equal access to justice under the law.
She has represented whistleblowers who raised warnings about fraud and abuse in our health care system. She has offered pro bono services to survivors of domestic violence who need protective orders against their abusers. Now, we need her fighting for us in the State House.
Zulma and her family moved from Puerto Rico to DeKalb County -- and the 86th House District -- twelve years ago. Here in Georgia, Zulma owns her own law practice where she works as an immigration attorney, fighting to keep families safe and together.
Zulma knows that people navigating the immigration system need someone fighting on their side, and she is proud to be that voice for justice. She knows that our nation's diversity is what makes us strong because our people are our greatest resource. She's ready to fight for a more inclusive Georgia -- where we can all reach our full potential.
We're so proud to support Dar'shun, Stacey, and Zulma in their fight for a more progressive, more inclusive Georgia. But they won't win their races without the support of folks like you.
