The Dignity and Power Now team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to sculptor, Alison Saar, and the L.A. Louver Gallery for donating $12,500 to our grassroots organization. Alison Saar created the charity art print, Rise, to benefit local Los Angeles community organizations that include Dignity and Power Now, Crenshaw Dairy Mart, and Summaeverythang.
Dignity and Power Now is partnering with Black Futures Lab to create the #BlackAgenda2020.
#BlackAgenda2020 holds elected officials accountable to our communities & makes us powerful in our democracy, the legal system, & beyond!
Most recently, advocacy organizations across California have launched a campaign against Proposition 25. Leaders believe that this ballot measure replaces California's bail system with a far worse system of pretrial racism and mass incarceration for Black, Brown, and low income people in the community.
Learn more about Prop 25 and put an end to pretrial racism.
"There’s so many mothers I know for a fact that went to their graves knowing that their children did not hang themselves … and never got a chance to prove that, because it’s so hard to fight and win when it comes to law enforcement." - Helen Jones, mother of John Thomas Horton III and a Community Organizer with Dignity and Power Now.
Alison Saar would donate all proceeds from the sale of the 100-print series to local community organizations: Dignity and Power Now (DPN) Summaeverythang Community Center and Crenshaw Dairy Mart. The print sold out in less than a day, raising $25,000 to support local Los Angeles community organizations.
