Friend,
Welcome to the Friday Five! Every Friday we share our top five
articles, stories, and quotes for you to read and share with your
friends and church families.
We
would be very grateful if you could make a donation of $100, $50, $25,
or $10 today towards our work producing these Friday Fives and
fighting for your values on the public square!
1. GOTV: Early Voting has been extended
for impacted Congressional Districts—Your vote is needed!
We have been hearing reports that
faith-driven voters have not been going to vote early, and this is
concerning. We wanted to send you a quick reminder that one-stop
(early) voting already started, and for counties that have been
impacted by the storm it has been extended into this weekend. You have
until then to vote early for the 9th and the 3rd District
Congressional special election. After that, your last chance to vote
will be on election day, September 10th.
The Church can make all the
difference in elections, unless we stay home and ignore
elections.
We have proudly endorsed Dan
Bishop and Dr.
Greg Murphy to boldly represent North Carolina in the US House of
Representatives.
2. WATCH: IFFNC: GOTV church video;
don't forgot to vote early and on election day!
Special elections usually suffer
very low turnout compared to regular elections, and this year's #NC09 contest
is no exception. The ballot count now stands at roughly half of 2018's
turnout at this same point in Early Voting. It is critical that you
exercise your right to vote!
Early voting ends on Friday,
September 6th, and election day is Tuesday, September 10th. You have
the power to impact the next generation. So what will you
do?

3. NC VALUES: 🚨 Social justice standards
training has infiltrated NC schools. Must read.
Last week we reported on an incident
where Ms. Melissa Wilson—a high school English teacher at Heritage
High School—had her students take a Diversity Inventory that asks them
to identify their sexual orientation, gender, religion, socio-economic
class, as well of those of their family members, doctors, etc.
We thought this incident was shocking on
its own, but once we began to research it, we uncovered something that is going to outrage parents
all across the state.
In short, we have discovered that the
Wake County Public Schools System's Equity Affairs office has been
conducting training seminars on the "Social Justice Standards," which
is intended to educate and activate students to advance a particular
socialist/social democratic political ideology.

5. WRAL: Judges order another redraw of
NC voting maps, say legislative districts too partisan
"A three-judge panel ordered another
redraw for North Carolina's legislative maps Tuesday, finding them
overly partisan in a closely watched case based on the state
constitution.
In a unanimous ruling, the judges said
House and Senate maps 'are significantly tainted' and 'do not permit
voters to freely choose their representative, but rather
representatives are choosing voters based upon sophisticated partisan
sorting.'"
WEEKLY PRAYER: LIFE
LORD, we recognize that you are Sovereign over all creation. We
recognize you made man from the dust, and in your mercy crowned
creation with man and woman made in your image. What a wonder it is
that you would bestow upon us this blessing and
responsibility!
We pray LORD that we would not take this for granted. We pray
that both this great responsibility, and this great dignity, may
motivate us to love you more, love our neighbor more, and love
ourselves more.
Father, we pray for all the pro-life bills moving through the
NC House and Senate. We praise you for the Senate's vote to override
Governor Cooper's veto. We now pray for the House to do the same. We
also continue to pray that we may see other pro-life legislation pass
and protect women and unborn babies. Help us, Lord, to rise to the
call for action to show up at legislative rallies and committee
meetings to show our legislators how strongly we support the right to
life. Give our legislators courage to stand up for the unborn and to
champion protecting the unborn as the centerpiece of their own public
service. Never let us rest until we change our society so that it sees
the value of life in the womb and abortion becomes
unthinkable.
"And Moses said to the
people, 'Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of
the Lord, which he will
work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today,
you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and
you have only to be silent.'” (Exodus
14:13-14)
Amen
