Not being able to find a bathroom is no laughing matter; with no other options, open defecation spreads serious, sometimes deadly diseases. Women and girls have it the hardest. If a girl has her period and there's no bathroom at school, she has to stay home and miss out on her education! Plus, to avoid having to go to the bathroom out in the open, women often hold it all day and risk attacks at night when they can finally seek out a toilet.
