Hello —
When the helicopter I was co-piloting was shot down over Iraq, my Army buddies defended the perimeter to protect me and the other wounded. That’s what you do in the military: you guard the perimeter to safeguard the core of every unit.
I have used that same outlook as a U.S. Senator — I’ve worked hard to protect and serve both my country and my constituents. That’s why I have made affordable health care and Veterans’ affairs top legislative issues, but Mitch McConnell has left so many important bills to collect dust on his desk.
This November, we have the opportunity to take back the Senate and end Mitch McConnell’s majority — we just need to flip four seats. And we have a real shot with four Veteran challengers: Amy McGrath in Kentucky, Mark Kelly in Arizona, Cal Cunningham in North Carolina and MJ Hegar in Texas.
I’m a firm believer we need to elect more Veterans to Congress. Veterans approach public service differently than politicians. We're trained to be solutions-oriented. Veterans are more likely to put aside differences in pursuit of common goals. That’s why I’m supporting VoteVets and their work to flip the Senate by electing Amy, Mark, Cal and MJ this November.
I’ve seen firsthand how this organization supports Veterans. When Donald Trump and his allies attacked me, VoteVets had my back. And now, I’m reaching out to support their work to stand up for Veterans and military families and put our country back on the right track.
Listen, I know Mitch McConnell will fight with everything he’s got to maintain his power in the Senate — this fight won’t be easy, but together, we can do what we do best: fight for the future of our country.
If you’re with me, chip in $10 or anything you can to support VoteVets? Your contribution goes directly toward their efforts to invest in key battleground states across the country and support Democrats with digital, television, and radio ad buys.

We can’t sit out this election. Let’s do everything we can to make sure we can flip the Senate and make meaningful progress on the issues that matter most.
Thank you for stepping up and doing your part.
