These families urgently need your help

Dear John,

Our teams have been on the ground, working 24/7 after a series of fires ripped through the asylum centre in Moria, Lesvos.

In the two weeks since the centre was destroyed, we’ve set up with authorities and partners an emergency temporary site and already helped more than 9,400 of the most vulnerable people to find shelter, including children, pregnant women and elderly people. We have also provided over 8,500 people with relief items such as blankets, sleeping bags, plastic mats, jerrycans and solar lamps to keep them safe at night.

But, approximately 2,000 people are still sleeping in the open – in fields, on the beach or even in the streets.

This emergency site can only be a temporary solution. We are calling the Greek authorities and European Union to identify long-awaited, comprehensive, humane solutions and stand ready to further support.

But we need your help. Make a donation right now, and we’ll be able to provide basic relief items, water, medical care, insulation kits and flooring to make the emergency shelters safe before winter sets in.

Your generosity goes a long way:

  • Just $90 is enough to give five refugee families blankets, sleeping bags and mats to keep them warm at night
  • $125 could provide 20 families with soap and sanitation products to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
  • An incredibly generous gift of $360 could provide temporary shelter for a whole family.

For many refugees and asylum seekers in Lesvos, this is the second time they have lost everything. Whatever you can afford to give, we will put your money to good use.

Thank you.
