Examining the intersections of race and Islamophobia

Dear Friend,

In an already incredibly challenging year for our racial justice movements, Islamophobia against Muslim communities continues to be weaponized at the highest levels of government in the United States.

However, Islamophobia is more than a recent current expression of anxiety and hostility against Muslims or a xenophobic reaction to Black and brown Muslim immigrants –– it’s also a racial justice issue, which is why we’re examining the intersections between #RaceAnd Islamophobia.

Please join us on October 2nd for a new webinar on #RaceAnd Islamophobia

In order to continue addressing the harmful impacts of Islamophobia the webinar will explore the relationships between the construct of race, the racial hierarchy of white supremacy, and how Islamophobia is perpetuated on a global level.

#RaceAnd Islamophobia will be a virtual online presentation taking a look at how Islamophobia has been central to the racial hierarchy of the United States. Though a race-explicit lens, participants will learn about:

  • The global roots of Islamophobia and its relation to Afrophobia and anti-Blackness
  • Naming and analyzing structural Islamophobia and frames for racial solidarity across Muslim identities
  • How Islamophobia has been used to “solidify” whiteness as a separate and non-Muslim identity

Join us on October 2nd, because it’s never race alone. It’s always #RaceAnd
