BREAKING FROM MICHIGAN
Tragic news from Michigan's 2nd Congressional District, where U.S. Congresswoman Angie Craig is running for reelection: one of her opponents, Adam Weeks, passed away this week [[link removed]] .
As voters have already cast ballots in the race, this will trigger state laws delaying the November election [[link removed]] , and a special election will be held in February. Rep. Craig will briefly vacate her seat before the special election [[link removed]] .
LATEST ENDORSEMENTS

One of our newest Spotlight candidates, Jared Nieuwenhuis , celebrated his endorsement [[link removed]] and announced he’s tied in the latest polls [[link removed]] ! When he flips this seat, he will be the first openly gay person elected to the South Dakota state legislature.

We also endorsed three LGBTQ candidates for DC government: Allister Chang for the DC State Board of Education, Randy Downs for D.C. Council Ward 2 and Alex Pardo for an At-Large seat [[link removed]] !
THIS WEEK IN HOMOPHOBIA
Fred Upton Watch: he still has not condemned his supporters calling Jon Hoadley a “pedo sex poet.” [[link removed]] Undeterred by Upton’s lies, Jon’s campaign issued his third campaign ad [[link removed]] !
Illinois state Rep. Amy Grant made a series of homophobic and racist statements against Victory Fund candidate Ken Mejia-Beal . You can read the full remarks here [[link removed]] .
Grant openly mocks Ken, saying he’ll be just “another person in the Black Caucus” and “because of the way he talks,” which is “all LGBTQ.” [[link removed]]
In his statement, Ken reminded his future constituents that bigotry has no place in politics. [[link removed]]
