Vote for the Boundary Waters

Dear John,

It’s hard to believe, but there are less than six weeks left until the most important election for the country and the Boundary Waters.

Electing champions who are committed to protecting our clean water and Boundary Waters Wilderness is more important than ever. Your voice matters and you can speak up for the Wilderness by urging your friends and family to vote for the Boundary Waters. Read our list of our endorsed candidates and make a plan to vote BWCA this fall.

Just this week, we came out with a new fact sheet showing how a sulfide-ore copper mine on the edge of the Boundary Waters will threaten the Wilderness, including the many wildlife species that rely on the Wilderness ecosystem for survival such as loons, Minnesota’s state bird. Loons, when exposed to sulfide-ore copper mining byproducts, are known to give birth to physiologically weakened offspring. This would threaten the survival of this iconic Northwoods bird.

Twin Metal’s risky sulfide-ore copper mine would do irreparable damage to the Boundary Waters and surrounding environment and would release toxic metals and other pollutants into the Boundary Waters, jeopardizing the thriving ecosystem and damaging forever the nation’s most visited Wilderness.

This is an unacceptable risk. Speak up and vote Boundary Waters in the upcoming election.

For the Wilderness,

Alex Falconer
Director, Boundary Waters Action Fund

P.S. The Boundary Waters is on the ballot. With less than six weeks until the election, will you make an impact and spread the word to your friends and family about voting for Boundary Waters champions?
