Friend,
Two years ago yesterday, Trump announced plans to eliminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and strip protections from nearly 800,000 immigrants brought to the United States as children.
While Trump has been unsuccessful so far, he has spent every moment since plotting ways to roll back DACA. And now the Supreme Court, with right-wing judges appointed by Trump himself, will decide if he has the power to end this program once and for all.
That’s why House Democrats passed the historic Dream and Promise Act in June to protect these DREAMers and other immigrants by providing a pathway to citizenship.
These young people were brought to the United States as children — for many, this country is the only home they’ve ever known. They’re our neighbors, our friends, our children’s classmates. They want and deserve a life as citizens of this great nation.
But this will all be for nothing unless Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans agree to pass the Dream and Promise Act before it’s too late. That’s why I’m asking:
Will you add your name to demand the Senate pass the Dream and Promise Act to provide a rightful pathway to citizenship for these immigrants?
Undocumented young people and their families are every bit American as Trump and his Republican buddies. It’s time we say so on paper.
In solidarity,
Barbara Lee
