WHEN I SAW A MONKEY STRAPPED TO A LABORATORY CHAIR AND TREMBLING IN FEAR, I KNEW
I HAD TO DO SOMETHING.
Will you act, too? Your gift of just $2 or more to help stop crude and cruel tests will be matched.

----------------------------------------
Dear Friend,
When I first saw an animal tormented by an experimenter, I was a middle school
student on a field trip to a nearby laboratory.
My classmates and I watched as a worker wheeled out a monkey strapped to a
chair. An experimenter clicked a button, and the abused animal immediately
jutted out his arm for a drug injection—something that he'd been conditioned to
do through pain and fear.
The experimenters thought the visiting students would be impressed, but I was
sickened. I've never forgotten that trembling, frightened monkey.
Today, I know that countless others like him are suffering in crude and cruel
experiments in which they'll be injected with chemicals, tormented for weeks on
end to provoke their worst fears, or even infected with deadly pathogens like
the novel coronavirus—even though the results of these tests aren't relevant to
humans.
I've dedicated my career to stopping such cruelty and getting animals out of laboratory cages—and today, I'm asking for your help.
Please support PETA's "Stop Animal Testing" Challenge. Every gift you make before October 31, up to the $500,000 goal, will be
matched, going twice as far to help me and other PETA scientists end archaic
experiments on animals.

For 11 years, I've been part of a determined team of PETA scientists
collaborating with experts around the world to promote the development and use
of human-relevant, non-animal testing methods. Together, we're challenging the
use of animals in experiments—helping to end outdated pesticide-poisoning tests
on dogs, pushing food and beverage giants to stop electroshocking and
force-feeding mice for dubious health claims, and collaborating with companies
and government agencies to phase out some of the most hideous animal-testing
requirements.
In the 12 months since the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's historic
announcement that it will phase out toxicity tests on mammals by 2035—a move
that could only have happened because of decades of PETA pressure—we've helped secure
tremendous progress with that agency and other authorities.
For decades, PETA scientists have also been pushing the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) to modernize its testing regime, and that agency recently
allowed a promising potential COVID-19 vaccine to leapfrog over the misleading,
wasteful, years -long animal-testing phase and move straight to human trials, a decision the
FDA made knowing that modern testing approaches ensure the safety of new
vaccines without forcing animals to endure cruel tests.
And thanks in part to funding from PETA and our affiliates, researchers are
developing effective, humane, and fully human antibodies capable of blocking the
poisonous toxin that causes diphtheria and treating venomous spider bites.
With your help, we're welcoming in an exciting new era for science and
medicine—one that better protects humans while keeping animals from being condemned to laboratory cages .
But as long as monkeys, dogs, mice, and other animals are still suffering, I need your help to
do more. Please take a moment to double your impact for animals in laboratories by
pitching in to the "Stop Animal Testing" Challenge right now.

Even $2 will help bring us closer to our goal. I know what a huge impact $1
million could have on PETA's work to reduce and replace animal tests, and every
dollar will be matched to help us get there!
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Jeff Brown

We've set a deadline of October 31 to raise $500,000 through the "Stop Animal
Testing" Challenge. Gifts made after that date or after our goal has been met
will not be matched, but they'll still make a tremendous difference to PETA's
work against cruel and deadly experiments on animals.
