At the end of this email I'm going to ask you to make a contribution to get us back on track toward our upcoming end-of-quarter goal -- but first I'm going to tell you why the next few weeks are so important.

It's a long email, so if you don't have time to read to the end, here's the gist: We've made big investments in critical battleground states, yet Democrats are still trailing the GOP in fundraising in some of our most important state legislative chambers. Every dollar we raise from grassroots donors like you helps us close the gap.

Because of the generous support we've already received, we've been able to:

• Make investments in nine 2020 target states
• Launch a six-figure campaign to pressure Mitch McConnell to fund safe elections
• Join a $1.1 million investment to flip the Texas state House

We're proud of our work, but there's still so much left to do. And the stakes couldn't be higher.

If the GOP holds on to state legislatures, they'll continue manipulating electoral maps. Those maps will keep Republicans in power, where they'll block progress at every turn. In other words, whether we have fair elections or pass progressive legislation in the next decade depends on what we do in the next five weeks.

Friend, I love the work I do. But 10 years from now, I hope I'm not still fighting to undo the damage of another decade of GOP obstruction. I'd much rather be celebrating the progress we've made on issues like health care, racial justice, gun violence prevention, and climate change. We can secure that future -- if we act now.

So now I'm asking. If you're able, will you give now so we can flip legislative chambers and create a better future for our country?
