Sanctuary Policies Protect Criminal Aliens From Deportation Some go on to commit heinous felonies. Please help us stop this outrage
John, They should have been deported. Instead, because of sanctuary city policies, Wilson Art Constanza-Galdomez and Wualter Orellana-Hernandez were able to murder Long Islander Gabriella Alejandra Gonzales Ardon. (A third person who cooperated in the murder was also an illegal alien.) When sanctuary city policies force police to release gang members back onto the streets, witnesses do not feel safer talking to the police. "When law enforcement agencies fail to honor immigration detainers and release a criminal alien onto the streets, it negatively impacts public safety." -- ICE news release, September 15
The majority of states have at least one jurisdiction which refuses to cooperate with federal efforts to deport illegal aliens.
Ardon's murderers were all part of the international drug-and sex-trafficking gang, MS-13. A report by the Center for Immigration Studies found that MS-13 gang members killed 52 minors between 2012 and 2017. "In this case, two of the suspects arrested had previously been encountered by ICE but due to state and local policies that put politics above public safety, they were released to the street... This is the worst-case scenario when detainers are not honored." -- Acting Baltimore Field Office Director Francisco Madrigal Unfortunately, current U.S. laws against sanctuary city policies are vague and easily ignored. We need better laws! We can do something to fix this situation. Americans can influence our members of Congress to pass laws with real teeth in them... but not if Congress thinks it can get away with merely symbolic actions. That's where we come in. NumbersUSA presses for effective, meaningful action from Congress. And when Congress fails, we alert our millions of activists and social-media fans. But this is expensive. We need your help. You've sent messages to Congress. You've helped us defeat phony "compromises" that were really worst-of-all-worlds bills, like "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" bills, sought by Presidents Bush and Obama. We urgently need your help now, to help us frame the present debate over immigration. Will you help?
