I am no stranger to threats, vile language, or racist smears, friend -- on social media, from my GOP colleagues, and straight from the mouth of the president of the United States. This month alone, a Republican congressional candidate has incited violence against me with an image of a gun, and Donald Trump has attacked me and Somali immigrants to the cheers of his supporters. On top of that, GOP super PACs have spent millions trying to defeat our movement, and Trump's hand-picked candidate trying to unseat me has over $850,000 in the bank. This is not the everyday opposition a typical congressional campaign faces.
But here's the thing: We face this kind of opposition precisely because we're not running a typical campaign. We're a people-powered movement dedicated to disrupting the status quo and building a system that works for everyone in this country. A system that makes sure no one goes without the healthcare, housing, clean air and water, education, and justice they deserve. A system grounded in bold, transformative policies. Our ideas -- and the organizing power we put behind making them a reality -- are a direct threat to the GOP, and that's why they're hell-bent on stopping us.
We're just six days away from our last quarterly FEC deadline before the election, and we've set a bold $1.2 million goal to make sure we have the resources to get out the vote for our progressive priorities and show our opponents that we have the grassroots support to make progress happen.
Will you join our team with a $5 donation to help us meet this make-or-break $1.2 million goal before September 30th? [link removed]
From the moment our movement arrived in Congress, the GOP has worked relentlessly to undermine our fights for Medicare for All, a housing guarantee, a Green New Deal, total cancellation of student debt, and a justice system that is just. But we've fought back equally as hard to make monumental progress, and we can't let up, not even a little bit.
That's why our team is working every day to reach out to folks to spread awareness of the issues we're fighting for and help them register to vote and make a voting plan. We're counting on small-dollar donorsto raise the resources necessary to keep this critical work going.
Chip in your first donation of $5 to make sure we meet our $1.2 million quarter goal. [link removed]
Thank you for all you do for this movement.
