August tourism to Israel hits new peak
305,000 tourists came to Israel in August, the Central Bureau of Statistics reports, up 9% from August 2018. Between January and August 2019, 2.9 million tourists came to Israel, up 10% from 2018. The country has had 3.1 million visitors including those who did not stay overnight, and looks set to break last year's record of 4.1 million visitors.

Resolution to boycott Israeli academic institutions thwarted at annual poli-sci conference
“The resolution’s sponsors have already shown that they are uninterested in debate or dialogue with those opposed to academic boycotts in general and of Israel’s academy in particular,” stated a letter put forth by Academic Engagement Network, an organization of American college and university faculty opposing the BDS movement.

Israeli-made innovative cancer treatment gets FDA stamp of approval
The treatment discovered by Israeli scientist Dr. Sharon Shalcham, in trials, resulted in the reduction of size of tumors in 40% of patients. It is also reported that a patient's life expectancy rises three to five times thanks to the drug.

New York: Antisemitic incidents on the rise
The NYPD has reported an 83% spike in hate crimes over the past year - 59% targeting Jews. What’s worse, is that many of these attacks are happening in neighborhoods where Jews once felt at home.
