Here’s what I told CNN just now.

John,

I wanted to make sure you got a chance to watch this right away ([link removed]) , because this message is urgent.

There are a lot of fear-filled messages circulating right now about the upcoming presidential election, the voting process and -- should it be warranted based on the results of that election -- the transfer of power to a new president.

My message to the country that I made on CNN was simple ([link removed]) , and I pass it on to you: What we are seeing is an effort to cast doubt on the importance, and the validity, of your vote; to suggest that the will of the majority of voters can be overridden by legal contests or state legislators. It’s a form of voter suppression, and the best way to fight back is to VOTE and trust the election system and democratic process. Voters hold the power, no one else.

At this point, it’s important we all take a deep breath and don’t succumb to attempts to undermine faith in the election process. I hope you’ll take ten minutes to watch this clip of my CNN appearance. ([link removed]) I think you’ll find it reassuring to know that though this election may be taking place under unusual circumstances, one thing that remains constant is the power of your vote.

Sincerely,

Trevor Potter
