This November's election is too important to sit out. It is up to all of us to own our vote, make a plan to vote and know important voting deadlines. We have just 40 days until we vote to reverse the damage and chaos of the last four years.

Check your state's voting rules and deadlines
For example, October 5th is the last day to register to vote for Texas and Tennessee. October 27th is the last day to register to vote online in Connecticut. If you've moved or changed your name, you will need to update your voter registration.

Finalize your voting plan.

If you plan to vote by absentee ballot in Connecticut, ensure your absentee ballot application has been returned and received. Check to see if your application has been processed here. Absentee ballots begin mailing October 2nd and must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day, not postmarked by Election Day.

If you plan on voting in person, the polls will still be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. My website has more voter resources, important deadlines and official ballot drop box locations here.

Vote.

Every issue you care about, whether it's protecting the courts, ensuring coverage for preexisting conditions is protected, combatting climate change, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, reforming our broken criminal justice system, -- all of this is on the ballot this year.

There is too much at stake for all of us to not vote this year. I want to hear from you. Respond and tell me why you're voting this year. I'm listening.

40 days to go. Leave nothing on the table.

Jim
