Friend,
A grand jury didn't charge ANY of the three officers responsible for the murder of Louisville, Kentucky, medical worker Breonna Taylor. Only one officer -- Brett Hankison -- was indicted on three counts of "wanton endangerment." He is being given a $15,000 cash bond, and the other two officers are walking away with zero charges.
Breonna Taylor was murdered, in the middle of the night, in cold blood, in her home, in her own bed! This grave mishandling of justice is why we say Black Lives Matter and we Must Protect Black Women.
There are Breonna Taylors everywhere. And behind every murder of an innocent Black man or woman is a justice system that perpetually shields officers from accountability and the full force of the law.
We will never stop saying Breonna's name or the names of many other Black women killed by the police: Alberta Spruill, Rekia Boyd, Shantel Davis, Shelly Frey, Kayla Moore, Kyam Livingston, Miriam Carey.
We will never stop demanding justice. We will not be silenced. We will not move on.
Friend, we started the Justice For All Action Fund to elect Black leaders who are representative of our communities. Leaders who will fight for policies that will convict police for use of excessive force and murder at the same level as civilians. Dismantling the system and rooting out injustice is the only way we can ensure equal justice under the law.
In a just world, Breonna would still be alive. So we will continue to fight -- for Breonna and every other Black life lost at the hands of police brutality and white supremacy. Donate to The Justice For All Action Fund to help us fight for a more representative democracy.
