Yesterday, The Washington Post spotlighted an opinion piece written by myself and fellow Democratic House Chairs Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, John Yarmuth, Zoe Lofgren, Eliot Engel, and Richard Neal. 


In the article, I join my colleagues in the urgent need for a series of new reforms to protect our democracy from a corrupt president and lawless administration.

We began drafting such reforms over a year ago to address Trump's unprecedented abuse of power. They seek to demand accountability, root out corruption, and ensure transparency in government from elected officials. Our list of reforms include mandating the principle that no one is above the law, especially the president. The reform bill also seeks to prohibit self-serving interests in the DOJ or by the president, to suspend statutes of limitations for a sitting president or vice president, and more. The op-ed article details the reforms we're proposing with this legislation.


Similar to the reforms passed following Watergate, our reforms are to help prevent and stop the damage that Trump's presidency has inflicted in our government and our country.
