John
I hope this email finds you as good as it can in a time such as this. My name is John Henry, I am a Regional Organizer with the Sunrise Movement, and I’m writing to you from DC with a heavy and tired heart.
I am tired of the district attorneys and the attorneys general who refuse to bring justice to the black lives we have lost because of violent police. I am tired of corrupt politicians siding with the wealthy few over our communities. I am tired of Mitch McConnell and his minions clawing away at our rights.
I am tired, but I am here and ready to keep fighting. And I need all of you to keep fighting too.
It’s moments like this that we have to rise up to meet on the streets and in the halls of power. That’s why I’m asking you today to get on the phones and help me phonebank to elect Green New Deal, justice-powered progressives.
We need to elect progressive champions to Washington so we can demand bold legislation in the house, and FLIP THE SENATE.
Join me in making calls for Paula Jean Swearengin, running for Senate in West Virginia, Marquita Bradshaw, running for Senate in Tennessee, and Qasim Rashid running in Virginia’s 1st congressional district.
Marquita Bradshaw is the environmental justice fighter we need in the US Senate fighting for a Green New Deal and racial justice in Tennessee. Paula Jean Swearengin is the daughter of a coal miner fighting for a just transition in West Virginia. Qasim Rashid is a human rights attorney fighting for racial, economic and climate justice justice and religious freedom who has received islamophobic backlash from his racist opponent for running.
It’s times like today when I feel the weight of the stakes we are facing. But this is our opportunity to do something and to fight for change, to demand justice, and to elect the representatives who will fight alongside us until we achieve a better world.
Join me.
John Henry, Sunrise
