Meet a Local Hero Feeding Hungry Kids
When crises like the pandemic happen, people rise to the challenge. You did, by providing generous support. And No Kid Hungry youth ambassador Jaylon Kelly rose as well. He spent his entire summer in Burke County, Georgia going above and beyond to meet the sudden surge in demand for meals for kids.
TV host and No Kid Hungry advocate Taniya Nayak interviews Kelly in this moving profile. His message to other young people: “Just jump in, dive in and do it.” Turns out he’s also a great photographer and he shares some of his favorite heartwarming shots.
The interview is the first of a web video series introducing this No Kid Hungry’s Dine, Shop and Share campaign.

Hunger is the Symptom; Poverty is the Disease
In this installment of Billy Shore’s Add Passion and Stir podcast, Billy talks with San Antonio Food Bank President and CEO Eric Cooper and Hotel Emma chef and culinary director John Brand. The guests explore the larger problems of which the current pandemic-fueled hunger crisis is only the latest symptom.
“We never believed that we were going to solve hunger with a canned good. Hunger is a symptom of poverty and people in poverty have lots of barriers. It can’t be fish or teaching how to fish, it has to be both,” says Cooper.
