Arise Update
A large room full of people sitting at long tables.

While we can't meet in person this year, Arise's annual meeting will still be a place of community, justice and advocacy.

Join Alabama Arise for our 2020 annual meeting!

We'll be holding our annual meeting online this year, and we would love to see you there. Anyone can attend, and individual members and member organizations are eligible to vote on Arise's 2021 issue priorities! (See below for more information on the issue proposals up for consideration.) We'll also vote on our 2021 budget and elect our board of directors.

The 2021 annual meeting will be held on Zoom on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, from 10 a.m. to noon. Click here to get more information and register today.

The Arise Report: September 2020 provides a deeper dive into the annual meeting and Arise's issue priorities.

The newsletter features plenty of need-to-know information as well. Here are a few highlights:

  • Overviews of the proposed issue priorities up for a vote during next month's annual meeting.
  • Arise policy staffers give updates on our two permanent issue priorities: adequate state budgets and tax reform.
  • Organizing director Presdelane Harris offers a recap of this summer's online Town Hall Tuesday sessions.
  • Hunger advocacy coordinator Celida Soto Garcia explains how Pandemic EBT and flexible school meal options have helped Alabama kids stay fed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
