From the New York Times: “The Justice Department moved to replace President Trump’s private legal team with government lawyers to defend him against a defamation lawsuit by the author E. Jean Carroll, who has accused him of raping her in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s.”
A New York judge had previously rejected Trump’s petition to delay the defamation suit after Trump claimed he couldn’t have assaulted Carroll because she was “not my type.” Now, Trump’s favorite loyalist Attorney General William Barr has intervened to defend Trump with full federal force -- all at taxpayer expense.
