Friends,

In August, NAACP President Derrick Johnson sent out an SOS, to raise the alarm to save Social Security, referring to the program as a safety net that must be protected.

Johnson highlighted the essential aspects of the program, writing that “for Black women, Social Security is a critical lifeline out of poverty.” He continued, saying that “[t]oday’s Social Security program protects Black families through retirement, disability, or death. Its insurance benefits are critical for African Americans who have fewer resources and become disabled at higher rates.”

We agree with President Johnson. That’s why it’s such an affront that Donald Trump has delayed funding to Social Security through the end of the year.

By deferring payroll taxes (a change the president has said he’ll make permanent if re-elected), Donald Trump has set the Social Security trust fund on a course for insolvency by 2026.

Trump is willing to leave the most vulnerable among us starving for support in the middle of a global crisis, and we can’t stop him without your help. If you’d rather keep Social Security strong, please, lend your voice to ours now -- before it’s too late. Tell us now:

Do you support Social Security?
