Upcoming Virtual Vulture Trivia Quizzes
— for adults and families

After popular demand following our Virtual Vulture Trivia Quiz during International Vulture Awareness Day, we decided to organize two more quizzes this September — one for adults and another for families and children.

We will be using two online platforms to carry out the quizzes during the live events. We will host the quiz on AhaSlides, which is an online interactive quiz maker that is extremely easy and simple to use with no need for registration. We will use Zoom for a live video chat and screen sharing platform where we will guide you through the quiz. The quizzes last 40 - 50 minutes, and the events will not last longer than an hour each. We will also give a prize to the winners! You need to register to reserve your place. More information on how to do so is available below.

Date: Saturday, 26 September 2020

Time: 10 am ET | 3 pm BST | 4 pm CEST | 5 pm EEST| 7:30 pm IST

Venue: Zoom & AhaSlides

Join us for the Virtual Vulture Trivia Quiz for families and children — an activity suitable for all the family to take part and learn more about vultures. We will allow for extra time so that you can also translate individual questions to your children in your preferred language if necessary (the quiz will be in English).

International Observation Day
for the Bearded Vulture

Spend a day in the mountains to search the skies for Bearded Vultures and actively contribute towards the conservation of the species!

The International Observation Day for the Bearded Vulture takes place every year since 2006 to count Europe's rarest vulture and help monitor the Bearded Vulture population status and distribution in almost the full distribution range. Furthermore, the count produces many sightings of identifiable birds, and it generates baseline data for conservation scientists to analyze survival rates and model the age structure of the population, which will help us understand the impacts of the reintroduction programmes.

This year's simultaneous count is on Saturday, 3 October 2020 across seven countries, all over the Alps, the Massif Central, the department Aude, Andalusia and Bulgaria. Get involved, pick up a pair of binoculars, spend the day in the mountains, and help us look for Bearded Vultures and get counting.

Bearded Vulture technical webinar
— Save the Date!

We regret to inform you that our beloved 2020 Annual Bearded Vulture Meeting, due to take place in Parco Natura Viva in Italy 13-15 November, has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Instead of the meeting, the VCF is organising a 2-3 hour technical Bearded Vulture webinar, open to all, to celebrate the species and share the latest updates and results of conservation projects. We will send you more details, including a registration link and an agenda, in due course, but please mark this date in your calendar – 13th November 2020, Bearded Vulture technical webinar!

If you have any questions regarding the upcoming events, please contact Eleni Karatzia, Events, Outreach and Communications Officer.
