"We're Never Too Young to Lead"
Dear friends,
For ten years, the team at Our Children’s Trust has worked to ensure that the legal right to a stable climate is protected by our nation’s courts for youth around the world.
This morning, joined by some of our Juliana v. United States youth plaintiffs, Members of Congress introduced the Children’s Fundamental Rights and Climate Recovery Resolution. This resolution recognizes the disproportionate impacts of climate change on youth and the need for national climate recovery planning.
“I really applaud the Juliana vs. U.S. youth plaintiffs for demonstrating that we are never too young to lead and never too young to raise our voices to turn the tide,” said Congressman Rush. “The future of our great nation and the future of the world really depends on the resolve, the imagination, the commitment, and the genius of young people.”
Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Congressman Bobby L. Rush (IL-01) introduced the concurrent resolution in the Senate and in the House of Representatives. Seven Senators and 50 Representatives joined as original cosponsors of the resolution. It has also been endorsed by more than 50 leading organizations. You can help support #Congress4Juliana too by calling, texting, and/or emailing your legislators today.
