Dear John,

Our right to vote is fundamental.

This November, we cannot allow armed intimidators at the polls to prevent American citizens from casting their ballots.

With Donald Trump refusing to condemn political violence from his supporters, it is up to state and local governments to defend the right of their citizens to vote freely and safely.

At the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV), we are taking action to keep swing state voters safe in the voting booth through the circulation of a new report created in partnership with Guns Down advising states how to combat the threat of violence at the polls.

As cited in a New York Times article ([link removed]) announcing the release of the report, five battleground states in the presidential election have no laws prohibiting people from carrying guns into or near polling places.

Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin all lack laws that expressly prevent the possession of firearms at polling places but do have tools that can help prevent intimidation IF state and local officials take coordinated action. Join us in this fight today: [link removed].

These five crucial swing states need to act to reduce the risk of voters being intimidated by firearms at the polls. State and local officials can -- and should -- take swift action to ensure their constituents can vote without fear of armed obstruction or intimidation.

Access to safe voting is essential to our democracy, and our elected officials MUST ensure that all eligible Americans have SAFE access to the ballot box. We need your help to empower local governments to prohibit firearms in polling places. Give here: [link removed]

Thank you for joining us to protect this fundamental right,

Josh Horwitz
