In 2014, she ran for the Idaho House and won her Republican-majority district -- a rare feat for a Democrat running in deep red North Idaho.

In 2018, she ran for governor and received more votes than any Democratic gubernatorial candidate in history in the state.

Paulette is a trailblazer through and through.

She's used to breaking records: a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe, she was the youngest person ever elected to her Tribal Council. And in 2018, she was the first Native American woman ever nominated for governor by a major party.

And if she wins, she'll be the first Native American woman to serve in the Senate in United States history.
