Hi John,
It's hard to know where to begin this letter.
September has thrown everything at us. Wildfires ravaged our state and the entire West Coast. The East Coast is still recovering from massive tropical storms. More than 200,000 Americans have now died from COVID-19. The Senate has still refused to take action to pass relief or save the Post Office. And on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, we lost a true titan in Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
For some, it may feel bleak. For me, it's a reminder of all that's on the line in this election.
Ben Franklin concluded the 1787 constitutional convention with the famous line, "A republic, if you can keep it."
That's what we're fighting for these next 41 days - nothing less and nothing more than the future of our republic. Will we let Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell shred the last vestiges of democracy in our country? Or will we fight back, use our votes, and show that we will not be ruled by petty tyrants and power-hungry mad men?
Grassroots Democrats are giving their answer - breaking fundraising records, sending millions to competitive Senate races.
There's little time left, and so much to do. But we can, and we must put everything we have into these final days.
I'm with you. Let's win.
Sincerely,
Suzan
