MapLight is a nonpartisan research organization that illuminates money's influence on politics. We work with citizens, journalists, and advocacy groups to promote transparency, accountability, and reform of our broken campaign finance system by shining a light on the connections between political inputs, such as campaign contributions and lobbying, and political outputs, such as legislative votes. In 2016, MapLight reached over 27 million people with data in more than 1,100 stories and responded to over 170 requests for custom research. Voter's Edge, our groundbreaking online voter guide, empowered 2.1 million people in California, Illinois, and New York to find the information they needed to cast more informed votes in the primary and general elections. The impact of our work will continue to grow as we deliver even more tools, research, and analysis through mainstream outlets.
