As we prepare for month nine of our COVID-19 response, we’re just as vigilant about controlling the spread now as we were back when we started in late January. We’re also working all the time to support the other essential medical services and projects people around the world rely on us for. It’s crucial to supply our staff with protective equipment and medical supplies.
For our teams fighting COVID-19 and other medical emergencies in hard-to-reach areas, maintaining access to essential supplies remains a constant priority. They urgently need masks, gowns, sanitizer, and soap to keep staff and patients safe in the midst of the pandemic.
If you start your monthly gift in the next 72 hours, you’ll unlock an additional $100, thanks to a matching gift from FJC—A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds, which has committed up to $500,000 to support our teams on the ground.
When we started responding to the spread of COVID-19 all those months ago, our medical teams raced to train health workers, offer health education, deliver protective equipment, and implement infection prevention and control measures.
Nearly nine months in, the measures we put in place early on have enabled our teams to quickly scale up COVID-19 interventions in more than 70 countries around the world, from remote corners of South Sudan to the Amazon rainforests of Brazil. We’ve seen how COVID-19 can devastate fragile health systems, and how it affects the most vulnerable in places like refugee camps. We still need to keep our emergency medical programs running for the millions of people we treat globally.
