Friends, I have a huge target on my back. As the only Democratic Governor in the deep south on the ballot this year, out of state special interest groups are throwing everything at me. I govern by one rule: Put Louisiana First.
Right-wing PACs and committees all over the country look at that map and say, "The governor of Louisiana is a Democrat? That's who we should focus on beating." They're spending millions on misleading or dishonest attacks ads, simply because of party politics.
It doesn't matter that I've governed in a bipartisan way. It doesn't matter that my administration and I have worked hard for the people of Louisiana, from expanding Medicaid to raising the pay of our public school teachers. To some, all that matters is the "D" next to my name.
That's why I need your help. I'm asking for your support not because we may or may not share the same party, but because we share the same vision for Louisiana. I'm working toward a future where more people have health care, more children have the opportunity to succeed and fewer women are paid less just because of their gender. But to continue this work, I need to win reelection. And friends, that takes resources.
Whether or not you decide to contribute to my campaign for reelection, know that I am grateful that you're a part of this team.
