The end of the 2020 Census count is just one week from today—September 30. New York State’s response rate will determine how much money our communities get for vital services like Medicare and public education, and how many representatives we have in Congress. The lower our response rate, the more resources and representation are funneled away from us over the next 10 years.
Did you know that the people most likely to be undercounted are those of us who already experience multiple forms of oppression, such as LGBTQ people, people of color, immigrants and others? These communities are also more likely to use Census-funded programs & services, which is why it’s especially important that we’re all counted before the deadline! If you’ve already completed the Census, you can spread the word on social media by sharing on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Thanks for all you do,
