San Franciscans are fed up and ready to take on Trump and take back our government

John,

Running for Congress against the nation's most powerful corporate Democrat means the pundits are always counting you out. Who would be crazy enough to go head-to-head with one of the most prolific big money fundraisers the world has ever seen, who's won reelection 30 years running without even bothering to debate an opponent?

That conventional wisdom is broken. It broke when Donald Trump became President. It broke when a young activist working in a New York City bar defeated the man thought likely to succeed Pelosi as Speaker of the House. It broke when Nancy Pelosi put the brakes on presidential impeachment just after historic gains gave Democrats back the House.

San Franciscans—Democrats, independents, and even non-voters from across the country—are fed up and ready to take on Trump and take back our government. I am right there with you.

Over the past several months, we have seen incredible support on the ground and from movement activists throughout the nation. Progressive journalists have welcomed our campaign. This week, we have new empirical data that 2020 is our shot at winning a progressive voice in Congress for San Francisco. Our digital strategist has been surveying hardcore San Francisco Democrats—the kind of folks who always turn out, who fund the party with grassroots donations and staff it with their volunteer support. The results are astounding. Contrary to that conventional wisdom, support for Pelosi is thin. Less than half of surveyed voters support Pelosi, and more than three-to-one want the House to take on Trump directly with public impeachment hearings as I have urged.

San Francisco is ready for change. If we want to unseat the leader of the corporate Democrats we have to continue stepping up. We need to reach and persuade hundreds of thousands of local voters and that will take the largest organizing campaign our city has seen in over 15 years. More than 4,700 of you have made grassroots donations to get us here. Are you ready to take this higher?
