Dear John,

Right now, powerful members of Congress remain focused on cutting and undermining earned benefits in order to pay for other fiscal priorities, including preserving huge tax breaks for the wealthy.

But they're ignoring the growing movement across the country for protecting and boosting Social Security. That's why, as we are just weeks away from one of the most consequential elections in our lifetime, we need lawmakers to GO ON THE RECORD about where they stand on the "Social Security 2100 Act" (H.R. 860), introduced by U.S. Representative John Larson (CT-01).

This landmark legislation would: 1) Increase benefits by about 2%; 2) Ensure beneficiaries receive a fair Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), which more truly reflects seniors' actual expenses; 3) Cut taxes for 11 million seniors and 4) Make the wealthy pay their fair share into the Social Security program by, over time, eliminating the cap on Social Security payroll taxes.

To demonstrate how popular this idea is among voters during this election cycle, please sign our Petition to Congress to show your support for the "Social Security 2100 Act" today! And tell your members of Congress to take a stand on this important bill before Election Day!

We cannot succeed in passing this historic legislation without the participation of millions of working Americans and retirees who have a personal stake in the outcome of this debate. So please help the National Committee convince Congress that now is the time to boost — not cut — Social Security benefits by signing our petition today!

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
