Friend --
In the days leading up to her death, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dictated her dying wish to her granddaughter:
"My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."
It is absolutely heartbreaking to me that in her final days, Justice Ginsburg was not reflecting on a heroic life with unparalleled accomplishments in advancing civil rights, but instead on the fear of what’s to come. Fear she had, and fear she knew we would all have.
But I know this: We cannot let fear paralyze us. We cannot let her dying wish go unfulfilled -- especially as Donald Trump questions whether or not she even said it: “I don’t know that she said that, or was that written out by Adam Schiff or Pelosi?”
This is another unconscionable act by Donald Trump, and I will not let it go unchecked. Justice Ginsburg’s wish was for all of us to fight to protect her seat, when she no longer could. I’m prepared to do that -- I hope you are, too.
Join me in pledging to honor Justice Ginsburg’s dying wish and do everything in your power to protect this seat from power-hungry GOP leaders circling it like vultures -- add your name right now.
Sincerely,
Chuck Schumer
