Hey team -- I wanted to follow up on a memo Saumya sent some of our supporters that outlined our three-pillar strategy for winning the fight for fair maps. The three pillars he outlined -- training and education, grassroots organizing, and advocacy -- are still our secret sauce. But here's a look at the road ahead so you know what to expect in the coming months.
-- Voter education: In an era where disinformation and voter suppression comes from the highest echelons of government, we are making sure our supporters have information on important deadlines and ways to cast their ballots.

-- Lame-duck legislation: Between Election Day in November and January, when new legislative sessions begin, politicians who were voted out of office might try to implement last-ditch efforts to meddle in redistricting. We've set aside a fund to activate grassroots supporters to advocate for fair and transparent redistricting during this period.

-- Census and reapportionment: Census data from the 2020 Census is key to determining how many representatives and electoral votes each state will be apportioned for the next decade. But with COVID-related delays and interference from the Trump administration, the decennial census process has faced unprecedented challenges and threats to its integrity. Our movement needs to advocate for an accurate count!

-- Public input: Once legislatures and commissions begin to draw new maps next year, there will be opportunities for the public to weigh in. Our team will be doing a lot of educational training around what makes a map fair and historic gerrymandering tactics to look out for! Then we'll help empower folks to submit public comments and provide feedback at public hearings to hold map drawers accountable.

Redistricting is one of the most complex political mechanisms to engage in -- there are so many moving pieces and the process looks different in every state. But we do know there will pivotal moments in the redistricting fight in the next few months. And we need to know we have the budget and capacity to execute training programs, organizing efforts, and advocacy pushes effectively.
Will you commit to a $15 monthly donation? Our monthly donors receive fewer fundraising asks, but still get all the important educational, organizing, and advocacy updates.
