In 2016, Mitch McConnell said he'd refuse to consider President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominee before Obama had even announced a name, telling Americans: "The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president." That was nine months before the 2016 presidential election.
We're now less than two months away from the election of our lives. And, faced with another Supreme Court vacancy, McConnell no longer wants to hear from the American people -- instead he's scurrying around the Capitol, making backroom deals to lock down the votes he'll need to confirm Justice Ginsburg's replacement.
Mitch McConnell isn't fit to pass on Justice Ginsburg's gavel. No one with his level of hypocrisy, selfishness, and love of power at all costs should be anywhere near elected office. We'd love to see the American people rise up against the Grim Reaper of the Senate -- and exile him from government forever. But a recent Quinnipiac poll shows McConnell commanding more support from voters than his Democratic rival, Amy McGrath. We figured that must be because the pollsters didn't reach out to you.
