Dear Friend,
Muslim Advocates is honored to invite you to Muslims Making Change: National Honors, a virtual celebration of the incredible Muslim and allied leaders of 2020.
When: Wednesday, October 14 at 7:00pm ET
Where: Your Living Room
Registration required: www.muslimsmakingchange.org
We received nominations from across the nation for leaders in four categories: Racial Justice, COVID-19, Civil Society and Allyship. We’re thrilled to share the first set of leaders we'll be recognizing — our two National Honorees for Racial Justice:
- Sanaa Abrar tirelessly advocates for immigrant families as the Advocacy Director at United We Dream. While white nationalism surges around the country, Ms. Abrar fights the Muslim and African Bans, the cruelty of ICE detention centers, and the erosion of TPS and DACA protections for immigrants of color, among other issues.
- The Muhaymin Family continues to demand justice for Muhammad Muhaymin Jr, who was mocked for his Muslim faith and brutally murdered by the Phoenix police in 2017. In the midst of a national uprising for Black lives, the family fights to end police violence that is rooted in anti-Black racism and anti-Muslim hate.
Help us celebrate these leaders and hear from them directly on October 14th. All are welcome.
This is a free event, but registration is required.
