Friend, I’m proud to tell you I just voted to pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act -- but now I need your help.
This bill requires employers to provide reasonable accomodations for women who are pregnant or have just given birth. This is a common-sense issue of fairness -- and that’s evident in the broad bipartisan coalition that passed this bill 329-73.
But you and I both know that the Senate Republicans have their own way of doing things. That’s why I need you to sign on to support this bill and join thousands of Democrats demanding the Senate vote on this crucial legislation right now.
Pregnancy discrimination can be devastating for an expecting mother counting on her paycheck. And 75% of women entering the workforce will become pregnant at least once while they’re working.
Most of these women will keep working into their ninth month of the pregnancy, and almost half will return to work less than three months after giving birth. We have to ensure that they’re being treated fairly and given the resources they need.
Sign your name to demand the Senate take a stand for working mothers -- we can’t do this without your support.
Yours,
Congresswoman Haley Stevens
