Dear Friend --

My mom, who passed away from COVID-19, was an immigrant and a health care worker. She knew how hard it was for the undocumented to get medical treatment. They often don’t have access to insurance and fear losing their jobs or being deported. As an immigrant myself, I understand these struggles.

In California, 60% of COVID-19 cases are from the Latino community, while Latinos make up 40% of the population. We won’t beat this pandemic in our country until everyone feels safe and secure getting tested

To address these disparities, we’ve partnered with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) to launch a first of its kind COVID-19 mobile clinic to serve immigrants and the undocumented.

Our new program and mobile clinic is a model for California and the nation.

This effort is just part of the City’s rigorous testing and outreach program and just one of the ways we are working to support underserved communities.

Thank you and stay safe,

Mayor Robert Garcia
