I know we’ve sent you a lot of campaign messages recently, so I thought it’d be good to spend a moment explaining why these requests matter so much to Tina Smith’s re-election campaign.

In a post-Citizens United world, every public servant has to spend a substantial amount of their time worrying about fundraising. When GOP dark money groups can spend outrageous sums of dirty money to rig our political system, we have no choice but to raise enough funds to fight back.

The response to emails like this one allows Tina to spend a lot more time talking to voters and making sure Democrats take back the Senate — and less time fundraising. That’s crucial, especially as Republicans try to ram through another right-wing Supreme Court nominee.

You should know that when you see Tina fighting to flip the Senate majority or rallying opposition to Trump and McConnell’s dangerous agenda, it’s your response to these messages that helps her do that.
