MWC seeks Political & Legislative Director

The Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, a federation of 175 diverse local unions in the metro Washington region, seeks experienced, committed and dynamic individual with leadership capabilities to fill the position of Political/Legislative Director. Qualifications:

* Must have experience in the labor movement, preferably with local unions in the DC Metropolitan area.

* Political campaign experience, either working on a campaign and/or working in a political organization, is preferred.

* Lobbying experience is preferred.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including being comfortable speaking to large groups of people.

* Ability to produce written reports, talking points, and briefings on deadline.

* Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet and database software.

* Ability to work flexible and/or irregular hours and travel within the DC metropolitan area as required.

* Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree is preferred.
