Hey John,

After losing Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday, I know things can feel bleak right now, but the outpouring of support we've seen from Swing Left volunteers gives me hope.

Many folks are tuning in to this election and what’s at stake for the first time, and it’s making us more fired up than ever before. We can vote the GOP out of office this year and swing the Senate, but it’s going to take unprecedented voter turnout. So will you join our team this weekend for a phone banking weekend of action to help voters cast their ballots?

I know that phone banking can be intimidating, but especially right now, we have to do every single thing we can to defeat the GOP. These calls are critical—in some cases, these calls are the only way voters are hearing about the candidates and casting a ballot. And these calls work: according to Joe Biden’s campaign manager, phone calls are one of the most effective ways they’re communicating with voters.

It makes sense: I wouldn’t want to talk to a stranger at my door either, even if they were wearing a mask. But campaigns up and down the ballot are finding that voters are much more likely to pick up the phone when we call.

Whether you call it canvassing from your couch or customer service for democracy, it’s talking to voters—and that’s what Swing Left has always been about. It’s how we win. If every person reading this email made just 20 calls sometime this weekend, we’d be able to reach thousands of voters and give them the info they need to cast a ballot this November.

So let’s all make 20 calls this weekend. Every call we make brings us one step closer to booting Trump from office, swinging the Senate, and saving our democracy.
