Dear Friends,

We’re still reeling from the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a champion of justice who worked tirelessly throughout her career to make the U.S. live up to its ideals. While on the bench, she fought to advance women’s equality, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedoms, voting rights, and so many other protections we hold dear.

And of course, as she did in her fiery dissents, she left us with one final charge: fight for her legacy.

At AFJ, we are committed to doing everything we can to honor her memory and final wish that she not be replaced until a new president is inaugurated.

Mitch McConnell has made clear that he plans to ram through a nominee before the election, despite the tactics he and Republicans used with Merrick Garland just four years ago. At that time, they held a Supreme Court seat vacant with 237 days until the election. Now, there are less than 50 until Election Day, with many states already well into early voting.

No nominee should be put forward until after Election Day.

We've done the research on Trump's "short list" and he has made his litmus test clear: any nominee must agree to overturn Roe v. Wade, gut healthcare, and roll back the hard-won rights and freedoms Justice Ginsburg herself championed. With so much at stake, we can't let that happen, but we need your generous support.

The Republicans plan to move quickly and the other side has already pledged to spend whatever it takes to confirm this nominee before the election. Donate whatever you can to help us stop the Republicans from cementing a 6-3 conservative majority on the Court that will roll-back key civil rights and protections for decades to come.

We also hope you will join us for our Justice First Virtual Event on September 30. Now, more than ever, we need to gather together to celebrate RBG's life and recharge for the fight ahead.

Thank you for all that you do. With you on our side, we can win.

With appreciation,

Nan Aron
