Don't let anyone tell you that this fight is over. Indivisibles,
Last night, our Co-Executive Director, Ezra Levin, joined Rachel Maddow to tell her what’s next in the Supreme Court fight of our lives.
This fight is changing by the minute (literally) and with the latest news about Mitt Romney, we know this seems even more difficult. But we want to remind you that we’ve won tough fights before: in 2016 Indivisibles showed up at their district Senate offices to stop the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. That mass showing of constituent power changed the course of the ACA fight and WE WON. That’s the same exact tactic we’re going to employ in this SCOTUS fight.
When we started Indivisible we never said it was going to be easy, all we said was it was important. That’s why today we have two big requests for you, and they’re not easy, but they ARE important.
- This Friday, show up (as safely and distant as possible) at your local district Senate office. Bring your friends, family, fellow Indivisibles and make sure to register your event on our map here so other folks in your community can know when and how to join you. You can bring flowers, mementos, or whatever you can think of (be creative!!) to their offices in honor of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Then on Saturday (aka the day that Trump’s announcing his SCOTUS pick), we’re phonebanking to flip the Senate -- sign up here to make calls with us.
- We need you to make a donation to support this and all our work. We know donating can feel a little “icky” in a moment like this, but the truth is, without a lot of money, we can’t do things like run ads in swing states, provide texting and phone banking tools to volunteers, or host safe, effective events (see ask #1.) We’re still crunching numbers, but with a Supreme Court fight coming, we can guarantee we’re going to be spending tens of thousands of dollars we weren’t expecting at the very least. Please, click here to chip in $18 today in honor of RBG to fund all our work so we can win this election and protect the future of the Supreme Court.
We know we’re asking a lot from you this week. That’s because there’s a lot on the line. The Supreme Court -- therefore, control of the Senate -- impacts all the rights we hold dear, from civil liberties to health care to gay marriage to immigration to equal pay. We can’t leave anything on the table in our fight to protect SCOTUS.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
